Post-Congress Tour September 15-17, 2002

15. September 2002

Starting in Graz in the morning hours we first visit the Kaiser villa (empirial villa) of Bad Ischl. In the "Salzkammergut" (Lake district) Emperor Franz Joseph used to spend his summer holidays. At lunchtime we have a snack at Zauner's, one of the best known and best patisseries of Austria.
The day ends with a guided tour in Salzburg where we stay overnight. Salzburg was no empirial residence but that of the archbishop and is famous for its baroque center partly built by Viennese court architects.

16. September 2002

From Salzburg we travel to Linz, capital of Upper Austria and former residence ofEmperor Friedrich III.

After city tour and lunch we head off for Mayerling where Kronprinz Rudolf, son of Emperor Franz Joseph, died. Then we reach Vienna.

17. September 2002

The whole day is dedicated to Vienna visiting all the places well known as residences of the Habsburgs such as the Hofburg and the Hermes Villa and Schloss Schönbrunn. In this former summer residence of the Habsburg family lived e.g. Maria Theresia.

This tour will give you an overall impression of the most significant historical sights of Vienna. We show you the Ringstraße with its magnificent buildings, such as the Museum of Applied Arts, the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural History, the Parliament, the City Hall, the Burgtheater, and on the way to the Prater (the Viennese amusement park) we pass by the Kunsthaus. You will also see the Giant Ferris Wheel, which is an impressive landmark of Vienna. On the way back to the Opera House we also take you to the Belvedere Palace, the former summer residence of Prince Eugen.

Rate per person € 299,-- (extra charge for single room € 70,--) including: bus transfer, guide, 2 nights incl. breakfast and half pension.
